I have been looking for the floor plans for key museums, universities or venues where the tour would make sense, I thought it was key to make the outcomes believable so then took floor plans of each place.
Its key to make sure that the maps are aesthetically similar and so I have worked from the original one I did of the tate to ensure consistency.
I need to ensure that the maps colouring would work on all of the colours so have played round with the gradients but will check this later once all of the maps are done. Heres liverpools which I think works well, also the addition of the dashed lines helps break up the areas.
Glasgows also worked well and now I've got into a style it makes it easier and quicker to work to a set template.
I thought it would be a great opportunity to carry out the exhibition in Falmouth uni but I struggled to find a floor plan for any buildings, so thought that I might be able to create something from this map if I stuck to the simplistic style.
After I did it, and lookign back I dont think this works at all, it looks completely inconsistent to everything else...even with a few left its very obvious that despite trying to stick to the rules...it aaaint gonna work.
so Ive got a more simplistic floor plan which works so much better...
The only problem with this colour scheme is the darkness of the grey...however I think it might still work. the contrast might actually be okay when printed so I'll see.
For reading the method was the same so Iam happy with the outcomes..
I think its important to keep these as clean and simple as I can as the logo and rest of the branding it clean and bold due to the simplistic colours too.
