My spreads

These are my initial spreads:

working with the grid allowed for me to break the grid with this artists pieces,
with all of the suspense in his work I thought it would be interesting to break one of the rules and suspend the image in the centre of the page, however, when we meet again, the others may not agree with trying to break the brief..or indeed the grid. but conceptually I think this could be an interesting idea. I have tried throughout my spreads to follow the priorities given by each of the artists.

something that I thought worked really well with this spread was the use of the both double pages to emphasise the horizontal visuals found in his work. With better images, its really nice to let them do the decision makign with how youre going to work them into the spreads. I didnt want to over crop images,  as I think this would take away from the immediate impacts and potentially their overall aesthetic.

on these spreads we stuck to the rule that the portraits at the top were flipped upsside down to add more individuality to the book conceptually and to ensure that their forehead wasnt cut off on the bleed.

Some work was entirely complimentary to each other, so spreads like the one above was trickier than some due to the different styles or images found within their work. Due to this having a grid within the image, made up from squares, it seemed appropriate to allow this to have a full bleed to create a different dynamic

I thought this worked so well on a spread and the colours worked really well, particularly as a three. This page I think has a good sense of movement and is one of my favourtiess, but makes me realise how dependent on the standard of work, which, for what it counts, appears to be SO much stronger than last years.

This is my favourite spread, the sheer power of the images allows for a huge spread. The other images work really well smaller, adding hints to other pieces of work but I think the strength of them together will (hopefully) create an impressive page.

This work was mainly close ups so the detail was important to represent this detail through a series of similar image sizes. the same colour created a nice aesthetic and a texture to the page.
