Alternative spreads - welcome

For the alternative pages it was key for us to involve some of the practices we had developed throughout the spreads

Ben and I worked together on this page.

We looked at using the full bleed image, similar to the spreads we had created, however we thought that this wasnt bold or clear enough...

adding magenta was something we tried as to include the colour scheme, however it was clear that we didnt this really worked with the rest of the book. We also thought there needed to be more suspense, as it was the first page.

Another problem was the lines were too long, this made the text seem unapproachable which really isnt great for a 'welcome' page.

Once we reduced the line size it did seem better but thought we should approach it more like the spreads.

By using restricted sections to these images. it immediately bought a sense of the rest of the publication into the picture, literally.

We tried a few, some strange, outcomes with the strips but resorted to the simplistic strips, allowing for open white space emphasising that the type is what was key to the page, making it the focus.

The white works really well with the full magenta used on the inside cover.
